Nicola Barlow

My name is Nicola, I am a Yoga, Meditation and Breathwork teacher. My favourite style of Yoga is Vinyasa, a faster-paced class, synchronising breath to movement.

I also like to slow it down, focusing on precision and alignment. When we move through the poses quickly, we do not always have time to correct our alignment. This is why I also love Hatha Yoga, it allows us to spend more time in each pose, enabling us to work on our alignment.

My intention is to create a safe and supportive space for students to unwind, release tension and reconnect with themselves. My classes focus on connecting breath to movement. Bringing enhanced vital energy, which challenges both strength and flexibility, all whilst having fun. I love to use props to help both deepen and soften the practice, and I make sure there is always time for a deep relaxation at the end.

The first yoga class I attended was about 20 years ago, I enjoyed the class but it was more about fitness, and when my teacher moved away I started doing weights, gym classes, PT and doing Tough Mudders! Yoga took a back seat. I was so tight and aching from all the training, and no stretching, that I realised I needed to change what I was doing. I went back to Yoga and fell in love with the practice again. I had such a different experience this time around. I soon understood there was so much more to the practice than just the poses. I felt a big difference both physically and mentally.

Breathwork became a big part of my practice, and for the next few years, I attended between 2-5 classes per week, and that’s when I decided to pursue my teacher training. I trained with The British Wheel of Yoga, to complete the 500hrs British Wheel of Yoga Qualification Level 4 (RQF) Diploma Course.
