With Hannah Theodorou
Step into a deeply nourishing day of deepening your connection to nature, where the outer landscape becomes a mirror for the inner world, and creativity opens a quiet dialogue between body, earth, and psyche.
Held within the beautiful grounds of Hatfield House, this experience invites you into a slower, more intentional rhythm—one that honours presence, breath, and the innate wisdom of the natural world. We begin by arriving in the body through gentle somatic practices, softening the nervous system and awakening sensation, so you can meet the day grounded, open, and receptive.
Rooted in the foundations of Environmental Arts Psychotherapy, this day recognises that healing and insight often emerge beyond language. Through the playful, intuitive use of art materials in nature, you are invited into a process where image, texture, and form become expressions of the unconscious. Rather than focusing on outcome, the emphasis is on process: allowing what is felt, sensed, or imagined to take shape in its own time.
As we move outdoors, nature becomes an active participant in the experience. The textures of the earth, the rhythm of the breath, the quiet presence of trees and sky all support a return to connection, regulation, and belonging. Engaging creatively within this environment can deepen self-awareness, restore balance to the nervous system, and awaken a sense of being held within something larger than ourselves.
Lunch will be provided by local chefs, and you will have an opportunity to let us know about any dietary requirements.
In the afternoon, you’ll continue your creative exploration through various art materials that will be on offer, giving form to your inner landscape and entering into a process of meaning-making, a core element of arts psychotherapy. Through quiet reflection, you may begin to notice what has shifted, surfaced, or softened.
This day is an invitation into remembering:
that creativity is a language of the soul,
that the body holds deep intelligence,
and that through reconnecting with nature, we gently find our way back to ourselves.
You will leave with:
Your own artwork
A thoughtfully chosen gift to support continued reflection
A felt sense of calm, embodiment, and creative renewal
This is more than a workshop; it is a ritual of returning: to the body, to creativity, and to the quiet intelligence within.
