With Hannah Theodorou
Step into a deeply nourishing day retreat of Embodied Clay Making, where creativity becomes a pathway to inner listening, healing, and reconnection.
Held within the serene, timeless grounds of Hatfield House, this experience invites you into a gentle unfolding of self through somatic awareness, breath, and intuitive play. We begin the day by fully arriving in the body, through guided somatic practices that soften the nervous system, awaken sensation, and cultivate presence. Here, the body is not something to control, but something to listen to as a source of wisdom.
Rooted in the principles of Arts Psychotherapy, this day honours the understanding that creative expression can access layers of the psyche beyond words. Working with clay, an ancient, elemental material, you’ll be invited into a tactile dialogue between inner and outer worlds. As your hands shape and respond, unconscious material may gently surface, offering insight, release, and integration.
Moving outdoors, we enter into a relationship with nature as co-therapist. Through open, exploratory engagement with clay and natural materials, you are encouraged to follow instinct rather than outcome, allowing play, curiosity, and sensation to guide the process. This is a space where there is no right or wrong, only authentic expression.
Lunch will be provided by local chefs, and you will have an opportunity to let us know about any dietary requirements.
In the afternoon, you’ll deepen your connection to your creation—allowing it to evolve as a reflection of your internal landscape. Through gentle reflection and optional sharing, we begin to make meaning, an essential aspect of arts psychotherapy, where image and form become bridges to understanding the self.
You will leave with:
Your own air-dried clay piece, imbued with personal meaning
A thoughtfully chosen gift to support continued reflection
A felt sense of calm, embodiment, and creative renewal
This is more than a workshop; it is a ritual of returning: to the body, to creativity, and to the quiet intelligence within.
About the facilitator: This day will be gently held and guided by Arts Psychotherapist Hannah Theodorou (MA, HCPC, BACP registered), whose work is rooted in relational, embodied practice. With over six years of experience, Hannah creates spaces of deep attunement and non-judgement, where individuals are invited to explore themselves beyond words.
Drawing on the fundamentals of arts psychotherapy, she works with the understanding that creative expression can access unconscious layers of the psyche—allowing emotion, memory, and inner experience to take form through materials like clay. Her integrative approach weaves together somatics, creativity, and reflective meaning-making, supporting a process of reconnection, insight, and gentle transformation.
You are not here to “make art,” but to experience yourself through the creative process, held with care, sensitivity, and respect for your unique pace and story.
