Small rituals that help us feel more grounded

At The Oak House, we believe wellbeing is often found in the small everyday moments — the habits and rituals that help us slow down, reconnect, and care for ourselves more intentionally.

In a world where we’re constantly connected, overstimulated and rushing from one thing to the next, creating a few moments of calm in the day can make such a difference. Whether it’s listening to a podcast on a walk, taking five minutes for meditation before bed, or putting your phone down for a slower morning, these small habits can help quieten the mental noise, reduce feelings of anxiety, improve sleep and help us feel more present in our everyday lives.

At The Oak House, we always talk about movement as more than just exercise, it’s also about how we feel afterwards. Clearer minds, deeper breaths, better sleep, calmer nervous systems and creating space to reconnect with ourselves again.

Mindful Listening & Wellness Tools

If you’re looking for calming podcasts, meditation apps, or positive mindset recommendations, our team have shared a few favourites in this month’s wellbeing article — including apps like Headspace and Calm, alongside podcasts we love for mindfulness, motivation and mental wellbeing.

Headspace App

Belinda loves using Headspace for a moment of meditation before bed. Guided meditations, sleep casts and breathwork exercises designed to help reduce stress and quiet a busy mind. Perfect for winding down before sleep or creating a calmer start to the morning.

I am App

Lucy loves gratitude journaling and using the I Am app for little daily affirmations and mindset resets. A simple affirmations app that delivers positive mindset reminders throughout the day, helping encourage self-belief, gratitude and a calmer inner dialogue.

Calm App

Known for its calming sleep stories, relaxing soundscapes, gentle meditation sessions and anxiety-reducing tools. A lovely app for helping switch off after busy days.

The Mindset Mentor Podcast

Graham enjoys motivational and mindset-focused podcasts, especially around discipline, routine and self-development. Short motivational episodes focused on mindset, discipline, confidence and personal growth — great for a mental reset, staying focused, and building healthier habits.

The Mel Robbins Podcast

Keeley loves listening to The Mel Robbins Podcast on walks or while driving for a little boost of motivation and positive mindset throughout the day. Motivational and practical episodes focused on mindset shifts, reducing overwhelm, confidence and creating healthier daily habits.

White Noise & Frequency Music

Many of our team also love listening to calming white noise, soundscapes, or frequency music while journaling, stretching, or falling asleep. These can be found on platforms such as Youtube and Spotify and provide gentle background sounds that can help reduce overstimulation, quiet busy thoughts and create a calmer environment for rest and relaxation.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we hope this inspires you to find a few moments in your week to slow down, reset and take care of your mind as much as your body. Even the smallest rituals can have the biggest impact over time 🤍
