Working with Perimenopause – A Day Retreat For Wellbeing Professionals

  • The Oak House Studio & Therapies Church Lane (off Great North Road), George's Gate Hatfield, England, AL9 5HX United Kingdom (map)

With Kate Codrington

As there is a rapid demand for professional support for perimenopause and menopause, your particular skills are needed more than ever.  You already have the knowledge, qualifications, the protocols and understanding. What is seldom named is that your capacity to make a difference relates directly to your relationship with menopause and how accepting you are of your own vulnerabilities.

Wherever you are in your life, and even if you never mention a word about your experience, your relationship to perimenopause and menopause will be present and speak to clients powerfully. Working towards integrating your vulnerabilities will be a gift for your clients and for yourself. Whether or not you’re in perimenopause, you’re being asked to:

  • Be responsive to your sensitivities

  • Give yourself enough nourishment through rest, food and support

  • Reduce the toxicity around you in food, people, addictive patterns and mindset

  • Set loving boundaries for yourself and your clients

  • Respect your current capacity, and work within that

  • Honour your ethics and integrity, especially when money is tight

  • Be kind to yourself when things are at their darkest

  • Reduce your expectations of yourself

In a world rife with free of competition and comparison we desperately need spaces to drop our burdens, let go and  connect with people who get us, get our dilemmas and problems.

Our clients need us to show up in all our gloriously nerdy glory—because when we embrace our own weirdness, our life gets easier and we model what real, whole-istic wellbeing looks like.

You don’t have to do it alone, come and join us.

What’s on offer?

We’ll come together to land, greet each other and establish a ‘safe-enough’  place to be present in.  We’ll take an embodied journey through perimenopause to postmenopause to feel the growthful opportunities of the transition from the inside with a Medicine Circle process. This will enable you to bring relief, insight and compassion for your own Autumns and Winters (if not menopausal then from mental or physical ill-health, bereavement for example), creating more ease and capacity for when you are with clients.

We’ll take a look at the issues that keep us from a congruent, easeful way of running our practice/business. We will identify and move towards integrating the voices that keep us small and conforming to conventional tropes and away from our nerdy, unique brilliance.

All practices and sharing are entirely optional, you can say no to it all and the day would still be well spent if you snoozed through it all, wrapped up in blankets: rest is the first requirement for working with perimenopause!

My intention is for you to understand and embody the growthful possibilities of menopause process from the inside, release the critical voices that hold you back, and bring compassion for your Autumnal and Wintery parts.

The day will be spacious with an emphasis on time for integration through movement, quiet and sharing.

What this day is not

A day for you to learn the physiology of perimenopause

For you to ‘qualify’ as a menopause professional

An intellectualised process with predictable learning outcomes

It is much more interesting than that:

  • It’s an invitation to evolve your professional identity

  • To find compassion and maybe integrate some trickier parts of yourself

  • To validate your struggles

  • To allow your body and your intuitive wisdom to guide the process

  • To be surprised by the depth and nuance possible in a day retreat

  • See how a more easeful way of being could inform your practice

  • Access the power of sharing with a brilliant bunch of inspirational people.

  • And perhaps find that the things you thought were weaknesses or failings may hold the path for your journey towards wholeness

Who is it for?
